Senior Sales Advisor – Electronics & IT (FR/NL)

About the position:

Cotubex, a store specialising in electronics, IT hardware, lighting and cabling, founded in 1953 and located in Ixelles (Brussels), is looking for an experienced and versatile sales advisor (M/F). You will be the face of the store: welcoming and advising a steady and regular flow of customers with very diverse profiles, managing sales from advice to checkout, and contributing to the smooth daily running of the shop. You will also supervise a junior colleague and students. You will work in direct collaboration with the management.

Cotubex is a human-sized business where respect, professionalism and teamwork are non-negotiable. Our customers range from complete beginners to seasoned technicians. A good salesperson is above all someone who knows how to listen, adapt within seconds and communicate with respect and patience — regardless of the customer.

Responsibilities:

  • Welcome, guide and advise customers in French and Dutch (in-store, by phone and for online orders)
  • Adapt your approach to the customer's profile: from complete beginner to demanding professional
  • Handle the cash register, record sales and process returns
  • Follow up and prepare B2B and online orders
  • Open and close the store (alarm, security)
  • Keep the counter and shelves tidy, clean and attractive
  • Receive deliveries, unpack, store and restock
  • Participate in partial inventories and prepare parcels for online sales
  • Supervise a junior salesperson and students with an exemplary attitude
  • Suggest actions to improve the average basket and customer experience

Technical skills:

  • Solid general knowledge of consumer electronics, IT and lighting — you don't need to be an engineer, but you must quickly understand what the customer is looking for and direct them to the right product
  • Ability to navigate a catalogue of several thousand references: components, IT hardware, cabling, lighting, batteries, smart devices, small household appliances
  • Sufficient IT knowledge to advise on PC components and common peripherals (advanced user level, not technician)
  • Comfortable with everyday tools: cash register, scanner, basic software (Word, Excel, Outlook)

What is a real asset:

  • Previous experience in an electronics, DIY or IT hardware store
  • Knowledge of consumer IT: gaming, PC parts, peripherals, storage, home networking

In-depth knowledge of our product range is acquired on the job — what matters most is your commercial sense and your ability to learn.

Required profile:

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in retail sales with direct customer contact (preferably in electronics, IT or DIY)
  • Proven ability to handle a flow of customers with very diverse profiles
  • Strong commercial sense: you know how to close a sale without getting lost in technical details
  • Autonomous and organised: you manage your priorities without constant supervision
  • Well-groomed appearance and professional attitude at all times

Behaviour & attitude (non-negotiable):

  • Impeccable punctuality and reliability
  • Absolute respect for all colleagues and customers, without exception — any form of discrimination or inappropriate behaviour is grounds for immediate termination
  • Ability to work as a team at the counter in a spirit of collaboration
  • Exemplary attitude when supervising juniors and students
  • Professional maturity: you can handle stress, difficult customers and busy days with calm
  • You are naturally active and autonomous: you identify tasks to be done without being told

Languages:

  • French: excellent oral and written proficiency (required)
  • Dutch: ability to welcome, advise and close a sale in fluent Dutch (required)
  • Conversational English: an appreciated asset

We offer:

  • Contract: Permanent / Full-time
  • Hours: Monday to Saturday, 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM (break from 1:00 to 2:00 PM)
  • Day off: 1 day/week
  • Location: Avenue des Saisons 100, 1050 Ixelles (Brussels)
  • Salary: According to experience

How to apply:

Send your CV along with a personal message answering these two questions:

  • A customer asks you for advice on a product you don't know yet. How do you react?
  • What do you enjoy about working in a physical store rather than in online sales or an office?

Applications without a personal message will not be considered.
